Roz Baker has received the endorsement of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union Local 142 (ILWU) in her run for re-election to State Senate 6th District (South and West Maui).
“We look forward to working with Roz to improve the benefits and protections for Hawai‘i’s workers and their families, to grow our economy, to improve our communities and to defend the rights of all of the people of our State,” said Donna Domingo, ILWU Local 142 President.
The ILWU represents nearly 18,000 members in Hawai‘i who live and work on all the islands. Members are employed in every major industry, including longshore, general trades, tourism and agriculture. The union’s motto is “An Injury to One Is an Injury to All,” and the union works to improve the lives of all working families in Hawai‘i.
As Chair of the Senate Commerce, Consumer Protection, and Health Committee, Baker championed and helped pass important legislation to improve access to quality healthcare, support 100 percent renewable energy goals, and keep our economy strong. She continues to work on issues that matter to Maui’s citizens such as affordable rental housing; highway improvements including the Lahaina Bypass; funding for the new high school in Kihei and coral reef protection.
