Senator Rosalyn Baker honored for support of nursing

Honolulu – The UH Manoa School of Nursing and Dental Hygiene has honored Senator Rosalyn Baker for her support of nursing throughout the State of Hawai'i. She has been a champion for expanding nursing programs throughout the University of Hawai'i system, sponsored the bill to establish the Hawai'i State Center for Nursing and helped to secure its extension.

The award was co-presented by the Hawai'i State Center for Nursing, recognizing Baker for her leadership in health care policy and making health care a priority. Senator Baker accepted the 2008 appreciation award on August 20th where UH Manoa nursing faculty, staff, and guests welcomed the new academic year with enthusiasm.

Preliminary enrollment reports indicate nursing enrollments at UH Manoa’s nursing undergraduate and graduate programs are at an all-time high resulting from a variety of successful nursing education capacity efforts to address the continued demand for nurse professionals in the community.
