SENATOR ROZ BAKER OFFICIALLY KICKS OFF HER SENATORIAL RE-ELECTION CAMPAIGN Today, Senator Roz Baker filed her nomination papers to officially kick off her re-election campaign for the new Fifth Senatorial District representing South and West Maui. During her 12 years of legislative service, Baker has focused on delivering solid, positive results for her district. Working with other Legislators, the Administration and the community, she provided leadership to secure an emergency helicopter air ambulance for Maui County and improve access to healthcare services; highway improvements for West Maui; Maalaea and Lahaina harbor improvements; and more school facilities including funds to plan a new high school in South Maui, increased repair and maintenance funds directed by our local schools. As Chair of the Senate Health Committee, Baker was in a unique position to focus attention on Maui’s healthcare needs. As a result, Maui received significant funding for our long-term care facilities and services – Hale Makua, Kulamalu, respite care; for our acute care needs at Maui Memorial Medical Center; special needs such as dialysis, dental care, affordable prescription drugs, substance abuse treatment; and of course, emergency care. “I have a solid record of delivering results. I’m running for re-election to the State Senate, Fifth District, because we have more to do for our schools, our healthcare system and our community,” said Baker. “Now more than ever our district needs the proven legislative ability and experience, problem-solving skills, and independent, and balanced approach, I bring to this office.
